Summer's Over & It's My Birthday

Oh My Goodness Summer is almost Over.  It is so hard to believe that this year is on the downside.  The years seem to go whizzing by.  This is my birthday month and I am going to spend the time with my sister up north.  It has been over a year since I have seen her.  She lives on an island in the Puget Sound.  Very relaxing and away from all the hustle and bustle of the big city.  I am very ready for some down time.  After I spend my birthday with my sister my darling husband is going to take me on a small cruise.  We love to cruise and since the ships are repositioning from Alaska to the Caribbean it is a nice short 3 day cruise down the coast from Vancouver to San Francisco. 


I am currently working on Clara by Karin Vestergaard Mathiesen as we are expecting our second grandchild early next year.  My son won't tell us the sex of the child so I hope this one is a little girl.  If not, I will give this little dress to someone at church.

7 months

It has been a busy 1 1/2 years.  Since the last post (in 2014) we have welcomed our first grandchild and are now expecting our second.  We get the honor of babysitting two days a week.  My husband and I are exhausted at the end of the second day.
                 Getting old is NOT for "Wimps".

Haven't completed much knitting this year.  Three pair of socks and three baby blankets.  I have made a much needed promise to myself to complete some of my WIPs this year.  Of course, that doesn't stop me from buying more yarn, patterns, and needles to start more projects.

Generic Sock Knitting is a wonderful mindless relaxing thing to do while watching TV.  For the most part you are just knitting in circles.  Now. don't get me wrong socks CAN be difficult especially with an intricate pattern.





We are heading to Washington state to visit my sister for my birthday.   Then my husband and I are heading up to Canada before we go on a cruise.  I intend to spend some time in Vancouver and Victoria looking for yarn.  Why wouldn't I?  Canada stocks some yarns that are hard to get in the US.  This makes for a good excuse to head North to Canada.

 I have great hope that this year will bring more knitting time.

STITCHES WEST - Finally

Finally made it to Stitches West.  Had a great time though the market was a nightmare.  Packed like sardines.  There was so much I wanted to buy but keep it down to a few specials.  Bought some Yak and some Mink yarn.  Oh so SOFT.....

I have decided to take the bull by the horns and finally learn to knit continental style. My fingers just don't want to cooperate. I must have 10 thumbs, but I am going to stick with it..... Maybe a glass of wine will help!

Stitches West

I wasn't lucky enough to be able to get to Stitches West this year, but I will be there next year.  Had to make a trip to the LA Religious Ed Congress and of course they fell on the same weekend.   I have heard so many great things about it this year.  I can't wait for next year to come......

Laura Nelkin Designs

This is one of my favorite designs by Laura Nelkin.  It is the Skywalker Shawl.  You can either purchase the pattern from her website as well as from Ravelry, or you can take her Crafty class "Mastering Lace Shawls" and it is the first project you knit.  Crafty has great classes and they are so helpful.
